      Pros

      The non-profit work that MITRE is on contract to perform is second to none - making the world a safer place.

      Cons

      The damage that the current CEO has done to the company, in order to satiate his own ego, is beyond repair.

      Upper Management Is A Mess

      Pros

      Good time to be a low level engineer. Interesting engineering work with good colleagues.

      Cons

      Upper management is horrible. CEO is an egotistic narcissist. He's cutting benefits for loyalty in order to fund giving himself awards and hiring the 30+th VP. Gives long talks and emails with little explanation besides attempts at gaslighting us into thinking that the train-wreck we're in is good.

      Pros

      MITRE has an admirable mission to help the Federal Government be more efficient and effective, and it's great to be working in the public interest instead of CEO and shareholder interest. MITRE staff are generally highly educated, collegial, and tend to go out of their way to help each other. MITRE also has a generous educational assistance program.

      Cons

      MITRE used to be run by management that cared about the mission and the public interest. However, in recent years senior management has become top-heavy with dozens of VPs and senior VPs who add little if any value and are out of touch with the staff. and are obsessed with self-promotion and chasing the next shiny thing over delivering on the company's core mission.
