Pros

Great Retirement, Interesting Work, great work-life balance.

Cons

MITRE has changed. Reduced vacation, reduced holidays. Other changes for the negative. Not sure I would ever consider MITRE for employment again. We don't get bonuses or stock options since it is not a 'for profit' company'.

Pros

Great benefits. Even with the new changes, for those of of us who recently joined the benefits package is amazing compared to private sector. Pay is good as well.

Cons

It seems like people here are afraid of change. They've done things a certain way for years and don't want to change so they fight it. It stunts innovation and growth. There is also very much a "stay in your lane" culture. It's hard to explore new areas or make a large scale impact because people will try to block your every move and be upset over the fact that you had the nerve to step out of your assigned box. Unfair hiring practices. Your interview process can be 4 months long with 6 hour long interviews and an assignment while someone who joined at the same time had one 30 minute loop. CEO isn't great either, constantly backtracks/contradicts his own messages and gets very angry at questions asked during call. Would not recommend for new grads or people moving from fast paced companies who enjoy making impact.

Pros

Mostly talented coworkers and opportunities to participate in projects with impact.

Cons

The “Good Growth Strategy” is killing the company. It is actually code for build business, no matter what, while the CEO and executives spend, spend, spend. Business transformation in 2022 failed and MITRE financial systems are a mess, resulting in layoffs and a reduction in paid time off. Amidst layoffs, a push for and influx of hiring for the sake of hiring strains departments and projects. Projects are ordered to support spread charging for staff who do not have the skills to actively contribute—a violation of our government mandate to be good stewards. MITRE has gone woke and is an active participant in the Aspen Group and its efforts to combat “misinformation” (code for censorship). These Orwellian efforts are also implemented within as there is no means to provide feedback up the chain— HR works for the management team and Glint surveys are not anonymous. But hey, the CEO has a podcast!
