Pros

The company stays true to sticking closely to maintaining a work - life balance. Offer "free" opportunities to refresh skills or try new things with internal training.

Cons

Make sure you will be satisfied with your starting salary for a few years, because not only is the method of laddering disappointing, but unless you are personal friends with management you can forget opportunity for promotion within. Training provided is limited and overall lacks substance.

Thanks for your review. It’s great to hear that you took advantage of some of the internal training opportunities that MITRE offers. We hope that our current employees will be pleased with the new performance and development process that aims to foster more meaningful development and growth conversations between employees and their management. It will also enable us to continue to keep our salaries competitive with the market.

It's okay, but there are better places to work.

Pros

-Decent benefits, but slowly eroding. -Good work/life balance; usually flex-time is allowed. -Intelligent and mostly friendly environment to work in.

Cons

-PhD and engineering elitism run rampant; if you have a bachelors or masters in something other than a hard science be expected to prove yourself every step of the way. -Although you'll be told otherwise, much of the "MITRE work" is no different than the work for-profit contractors do. -Due to a heavy management structure, expect not to be promoted for a number of years regardless of how well you perform within your organization. -Sadly, many managers couldn't manage themselves out of a wet paper bag and have a habit of openly pointing blame for project/customer miscalculations towards their own team members.

Thank you for taking the time to comment. We’re pleased to hear that you enjoy the ability to flex your time over a two-week period as well as the work-life balance at MITRE. Many of MITRE’s employees have sought out higher education using MITRE’s tuition assistance program. While over half of MITRE’s employees have technical degrees, many very successful MITRE employees do not. We hope that our new assessment and pay process will help employees who are interested in being promoted reach the level of management that they are seeking.

Pros

Interesting work. Smart people collaborating

Cons

Top heavy upper management. Employee annual review process convoluted, outdated, and can be very subjective. (Management/HR not interested in employee feedback) Benefit reductions.
