Pros

I was paid a living wage

Cons

Anyone who isn't an individual contributor - managers/team leads/ directors or any other made up title that doesn't do actual work. They are the WORST in the industry. They will constantly gas light you, lie to you, and stagnate your career. They only care about propping up their buddies with no concept of meritocracy. Leaving this company has added so much perspective to my life. Nobody deserves to put up with this.

Cons

Low pay Toxic culture that favors tenure over competency Very low quality engineers. Many people who called themselves engineers had not written a line of code in 30 years and had zero experience shipping a product.

Pros

Lots of flexibility. Individual contributors can flow between sponsors and positions. No micromanaging.

Cons

Messaging from senior managers and corporate is tone deaf. PTO and benefits are diminishing, but improving with new CEO. Pay at hire isn't as high as for-profit companies, but goes quite high. However, you can get stuck in your LCAT for a long time.
