Pros

Amazing workforce who are talented, intelligent and care about the work that they do.

Cons

Policies that kill employee morale (return to office, enforced by badge swipe data). C-suite and senior leadership who are disconnected from ground level employees, make poor decisions regarding business spending, and are tone deaf to employee perceptions of their lack of leadership (e.g. employee benefits were cut even while senior bonuses were paid, and first class travel was allowed for execs).

Bloated bureaucracy

Pros

So grossly mismanaged people will forget you still work there

Cons

You'll get 7-8 managers that refer to themselves as "leaders." Most of these self proclaimed intellectuals produce nothing of actual value and spend most days congratulating each other on how brave and diverse they are while sitting at home. This was even more pathetic when they were forcing junior employees to work on premise during covid.

Pros

When my coworkers are good, they're great. Generally a low-pressure job, unless you seek otherwise. It's pretty easy to change the kind of work you're doing from year to year.

Cons

The CEO's disdain for the people doing the boots-on-the-ground work is pretty clear. The communication from that level is disingenuous or patronizing at best. Since the main customer is the federal government, there's not a lot of air in the room for cutting-edge work. Expect to spend a lot of time evaluating another entity's (more interesting) work. Incompetent people don't get filtered out - but this is a problem at any large corporation.
