      Diversity of work, public interest mission, wonderfully smart staff. Caring for staff and their career and mission aspirations. Opportunity for significant impact on our sponsors and the nation.

      Cons

      Like its federal sponsors, sometimes slow to make change. As a not for profit, does not have bonus structure that would attract some top talent

      Innovation at MITRE

      Pros

      Work life balance is good; a great place to work if you need to manage a family live

      Cons

      MITRE is unable to develop innovative technologies or processes. Management structures are severely outdated and cronyism prevails throughout both the Washington and Bedford campuses. The company is infected by a highly bureaucratic process and it never will be able to attract top talent. People who succeed at MITRE have mediocre skills and enjoy playing politics; not doing great technical and/or scientific work.

We recently implemented a new performance and development process that we believe will address concerns and questions about salary determination, promotions, and growth. We also recognize employees for hard work in other ways, such as Spark Awards (individuals), Program Recognition Awards (teams), and other recognition programs within the company.
