      Pros

      The opportunities that are available to all the tech staff are great. If you are flexible and want to travel/relocate/work MITRE will have a place for you. You can get experiences influencing large government operations that would not be afforded someone working for a"for profit" corporation.

      Cons

      Sometimes the growth pace isn't speedy and like all organizations sometimes the bosses are too risk adverse.

      Pros

      Good benefits, including non-vested retirement savings contributions in a 403(b) plan and a decent Horizon BCBS plan.

      Cons

      It is a highly political atmosphere in which who you know is often more important that what you know. The end-of-year Ratings/Laddering process is highly subjective. Working at one of the small sites is apparently a much inferior experience to working at one of the main campuses in VA or MA, where there is less pressure on employees at any given level. Personally, I found that the company's much heralded work-life balance did not exist at the site where I worked, and there was no recourse to an unexpected, unfair performance evaluation by management (admittedly based on incomplete and inaccurate task information) that created a hostile work environment for me and ultimately led to the loss of my job.
