Pros

Working with some of the best people at the lower levels in the organization and your immediate supervisor level. MITRES supports some of the best missions and sponsors! It used to be worth working here because I was not doing it for the pay, but family life balance, for the benefits, for the mission, and to work with some bright individuals. For now you can work from home… after they are done enticing us with this and robbing us of all our other benefits, they might eventually force us all back in the office. Maybe this was their decoy to take away so much from their workforce. So maybe it’s not a PRO. They match retirement and medical for now… who knows what other benefits they are going to rob us of. They even dropped hints they had looked into cutting those benefits in corporate meeting.

Cons

Employees are extremely undervalued. The CEO and his entire upper management staff will be the downfall of a once great mission oriented organization that I have taken pride in working at! They blindly make some of the worst decisions without polling their greatest assets… the employees. They even leave their Site Leadership out of major decisions. Corporate Leadership has totally lost touch with the people and are slowly sinking this ship. I am vaccinated, but the CEO was on a vendetta to force a lot of good people out the door by mandating the vaccine. After he forced people out the door, we spent 1 week with 5 people on the team trying to figure out what would have taken the network engineer maybe 30 mins to figure out. I chose to vaccinate myself, but it should have been a choice… not forcing people to lose their jobs over it. Luckily the Network engineer was a smart individual and landed a better paying job with decent benefits. The CEO tried to force employees to take the week off of Thanksgiving off with less than a few days notice. Enough employees stood up that he rolled that decision back. I had plans for taking the time for Christmas. Other’s save their leave because we get NO sick leave. This takes away that family life balance that MITRE likes to brag about. A month later they rob us of well-earned benefits. Stating that taking away our accrual of 8 hours of leave after 9 years of service is a positive thing because 65% of employees are under 9 years. It is also something they have lost! It’s one of the things I was striving to earn with my 11 years of service with MITRE. They are also taking away 1 of our 9 holidays. A lot of us also volunteer our services to our local community and that has dropped from 40 hours to 8 hours. Service awards, even though joked about… ask anyone about the MITRE 1 year clock, completely gone. Awards and Recognition, might as well be gone with such low amounts supervisors have to hand out. You can no longer sell your leave back.

Pros

the best people and mission! really get to work on the most important issues and have major impact.

Cons

Leadership has totally lost touch with the people... maybe because they haven't hired one senior leader from within the company in years. all of the outside hires do not and have not tried to understand our culture.

Pros

None. I'm sure back in the 80's, which they are still stuck in, they used to be something. However, in the present, they are old stuffy, out dated, single minded, and hurtful to employees.

Cons

Old stuffy, out dated, single minded, and hurtful to employees. Managers and other senior employees constantly steal your spotlight and accomplishments. Most recent person employed was coined as "dangerous" because they were so underqualified for their job. Under payed for your worth and knowledge. No growth. Undervalues your worth if you don't have a degree. Stuck in the old mind set "well if I had to do it, so do you". Such archaic thinking. Unable to fill current job positions due to poor pay and the requirement of being on site at least 2 times a week. Campus is a ghost town as employees who do go in mainly stay tucked away in their office for safety. Old managers are not technical. In general, poor managers, credit stealing co-workers, and no room for advancement. Stay at best 3 years, use their name for what little it is worth to get a much better job with more respect and better pay.
