Pros

Great work-life balance, great benefits, some really great technical people.

Cons

Constant turnover in corporate officers does not instill confidence in major reformative efforts. Renaming departments, hiring more corporate officers does not actual indicate any actual progress on reducing bureaucracy and increasing agility.

Leaning towards mean spirited culture

Pros

Technical staff and back office staff typically demonstrate excellence, integrity and dedication to the mission of government sponsoring agencies/departments, and respect towards one another.

Cons

Behavior of executives, in some cases, towards the working staff is becoming more mean spirited or callous. Perhaps this startling at the top and trickling down. Reasons for decisions made affecting groups of staff and relations with our sponsors are not often communicated clearly, leading to doubting integrity of decision makers.

Thank you for your taking the time to write a review. Our integrity and the work we do in the public interest is at the core of who we are at MITRE. The way we behave and treat each other at every level within MITRE, is so important to us, that we recently rolled out a new annual pay and performance of which our cultural behaviors are an integral part. We expect all employees to treat one another with personal dignity and respect, consistent with our values.

Worst work life balance

Pros

16% retirement match for 403b/401a, part of it for making up nonexistent pension. Vexted after one/first year probation. Work from home is a common practice.

Cons

Lots of expected nonpaid OT or R&D at your own time, but MITRE owns the IP. Totally bad work life balance. Don't believe its propaganda. Holidays 8 days, two less than the norm. Bad dental plan, missing teeth not covered for denture or implant. No 9/80 flex work schedule. Shortage of office space.

We are proud to be consistently recognized—through employee surveys and other forums—for the quality of our work-life benefits, including flexible work arrangements; a paid time off bank for vacation, family time, and other personal priorities; additional paid time off programs for parental leave, community and civic commitments, career enrichment training, and more; and a sabbatical program. Each of us is encouraged to take advantage of MITRE’s work-life benefits to recharge, grow, and achieve our personal aspirations.
