Good entry level job

Pros

Great experience for anyone interested in going into nursing, medicine, or other healthcare professions. Lots of contact with physicians, hands-on care, etc. Great pay considering you need no prior experience or training. Opportunities for extra time off when the schedule is light and there’s overstaffing.

Cons

Most people master the job within 6 months, at which point it becomes pretty repetitive and boring, especially at the front desks. Comes with no formal MA or phlebotomy certifications, so you don’t get experience you will be able to apply to similar jobs elsewhere unless you fund your own training. Involves a lot of teamwork so your coworkers make or break the experience. Sometimes you have to float to distant locations— if your location is overstaffed and others are under, it can be once a week or more for periods.
