Although they like to act like the furthest thing from a corporate company, they definitely have that side of them. Labor percentage is constantly hounded into employee’s heads and must always be below 20%. Many times employees are sent home if labor is rising above the mark. Decent hours are also hard to come by unless you are a captain or a cook, as so many are hired for each store. Also a nice aspect of the company is that befits are available, the catch though is you must work more than 26 hours a week, of which 90% of the employees cant due to over hiring and keeping labor % down. Pay isn’t spectacular, not that I expected it to be, but it seems the company likes to toot their horn about how great it is, and the director of hiring will make you think you will get payed much more until it comes to signing on the dotted line as well as tell you raises are handed out like candy (they’re not, especially to those who deserve them). Most start at minimum wage and raises are only done in 0.50 cent increments, and generally include much more than 0.50 cents responsibility. Even those with college degrees and expressed interest in management will only start off at 10.00-10.50/hr. Assistant manager (Captain) pay is also shotty at 11/hr, especially considering the responsibilities and extra work required.
The quality of most the employees are shotty at best. Mod hires many based on sympathy or 'uniqueness' (tattoos, piercings, gauges, and crazy hair are some of the best ways to get yourself hired). No background checks or drug tests are completed so many are very sketchy individuals, high school dropouts, convicted felons, or have zero work ethic, leading to a select few on the crew to basically run the store while the others slack or just move too slowly (or don’t understand). The CEO is a great guy and seems to want the employees to have freedom, hours and a good experience, but some of his hired executives do not share the same sentiment and make it known.
