Lots of Potential but Not Much Solid Direction

Pros

The general atmosphere is good and the people I work with are great. The casual dress is a plus and the benefit package is good for the size of company. There is a lot of opportunity for growth, and to work on a variety of different projects or departments. It does not a have a strict corporate structure, so getting your ideas heard and considered is not as hard as it is in a more corporate environment. There is great potential for this company, and the casual environment really makes for a generally good atmosphere.

Cons

The company is trying so hard to grow that it is expanding in too many directions at once without first making sure the core business is stable and efficient. The company does encourage the health and wellness of their employees, but the work life balance message seems far more talk than action. There is more work given to the employees of all departments than could ever possibly be done, and all of that work is "top" priority. Prioritization changes at the drop of a hat, over and over again, so that no project is ever given the focus and attention required to make it truly successful (or completed). Upper management has a terrible habit of not being able to wait out a project for it's full completion... after a few months there isn't enough progress to make the right people happy and direction changes. Everyone spins their wheels trying to change direction and figure out how to build a new project only to have direction change again. There seems to be a cycle happening every couple of years... the company has problems and goes into austerity mode (layoffs, interruption of non essential services, etc), everyone wonders if this will be the final nail in the coffin, people are asked to work even more with far less, personal time becomes non existent, things slowly turn around, MTM becomes profitable again, and then management starts pushing major expansions that overtax the available funding and personnel resources and eventually the company is right back to layoffs and austerity mode. Also be fully aware that it is trial by fire at MTM; sink or swim. If you can't handle high stress, a constantly changing priority list with a lack of realistic expectations, and the need to figure things out on your own with no documentation or direction then MTM is not for you.

Pros

I would not recommend this job to a Friend.

Cons

It is a high stress job that you get no support from management. Coach's are not all on the same page, some knowing what they are talking about and an other that you are told the wrong things. Two weeks of training with someone that has only worked on the floor themselves for 2 weeks, one is judgmental on who will make it and who won't before they get out on the floor and does not know the WI protocols herself, the other immature not treating everyone as the same, and maybe needs to get back to reality. Train them and get them out on the floor to a place that is so different then what you are trained.

Pros

you get to work from home, remote position

Cons

-micromanagement -favoritism -too much work with little pay -botched performance reviews -no communication with the entire network of others that work across various states since this is a Call Center job where you are trained one way and then your other coworkers are trained diffferent. Which causes tons of misinformation with members -this company is connected with various Medicaid/Medicare health insurance plans yet the pay is so low. Even as Bilingual. -not enough appreciation -Customer Service Reps are the ones on the front line but those behind the scenes get more recognition -no bonding/team events -management pretend to be nice to have more on your home life and basically comparing it to your performance. -HR does not ever speak to you directly or help with anything meaningful. -never easy to climb up the ladder. -many get away with violation of company policies while others get pushed out positions due to constant policing of your coworkers. this company will drive you mad! they do not care for employees as strongly as their self proclaimed mission statements for employees and members!
