      A very mixed bag.

      Pros

      Salary and great projects are a plus, although not when you take hours worked into account.

      Cons

      Politics and senior management who pander to the owners at every opportunity in a bid to stay in favour. Work life balance was very bad and although lots gets said about employee wellbeing, some managers do nothing to safeguard workers. Whilst there I saw some really good people leave the business. The long hours culture is alive and well at 155 Moorgate.

      Pros

      Company has great values and good leadership. Really strive to do a lot outside of just building their projects.

      Cons

      It is very sector dependant and depending where you work will determine how quickly you move up and your salary. Commercial offices sector is particularly restrictive within the construction sector.

      Pros

      Large company, excellent expertise and reputation within construction. Good company vision. Support professional development & training and pay for professional membership fees.

      Cons

      Mace relies to heavily on the construction arm of the business to the detriment of consultancy. Conflict if interest can occurs between cost/ project management/ construction. Poor mid level leadership and management leading to poor culture. No clear promotion structure. Mace reports a annual profit around 1.5% of turnover of £2Bn annually. Poor levels for a company of that size. Lack of investment in offices, technology, systems.
