Pros

Excellent sales training (MAGIC) that can be used for any job involving customer service Stores are now using MySchedulePlus which gives flexibility. You can pickup, swap, giveaway assigned shifts all between employees without manager approval. Good register training, but most occurs through coworkers 20% employee discount increases to 30% for select sale days, plus allows use of coupons

Cons

Too focused on sales goals, credit card applications, and employee scorecards. Low wages compared to skills expected, pay increases never more than $0.25. Sales goals encourage competition between employees with the customer in the middle. Almost no advancement opportunity except for "promotion" to full time or commissioned associate. No commission except for select departments; commissioned departments have low commission 1% or less. Some commissioned departments have monthly draw where employee technically owes Macy's money before they can accumulate commission.

Pros

Different methods of receiving paycheck- it can be direct deposit, a check or placed on a card. Employee discounts on merchandise At least you have a job

Cons

No appreciation for the hard work of associates You have to keep on top of your breaks Poor communication between human resources and staff. The employee locker room is a horrow. There is no break room or anything to make things a little nicer for the employees.

Pros

Very supportive sales associates and sales managers. Going to work each day and being around people you like was a huge plus. Generally speaking, you know that most people really care about each other.

Cons

There are to many to list, but I'll try The company places unrealistic demands/goals on their people. As a manager, you must be willing to play ball or bad things will happen to you. You will hear a lot about being "brand right" and you had better believe it. If for any reason, you don't fit the image of Macy's you are gone.
