Pros

The best part about working at Macy's in Spotsylvania Mall is that the managers will praise you when you do a good job, such as getting customers to open a new Macy's cards. If you can meet your goals and do what is expected of you, it seems fairly easy to move up. I started as an on-call and was offered a full-time position after about a month. The pay isn't great (~$7.90) to start, but they have been very good about working around the hours I want to work and giving me more or less hours if I request it. Most of my managers are pretty nice. They do have expectations, but that is normal. Several of the managers will joke with you, answer your questions without getting upset or making it seem like you're wasting their time, and those managers are really pleasant to be around.

Cons

The pay: $7.90 to start (even with a college degree) and a raise to $8.40 plus benefits if I had accepted the full-time position. If you're looking to work 40 hours a week, that is unlikely. FT seems to hover around 35ish. PT is about 20. If you do well, you will get more hours. If you struggle to meet your goals, especially as an on-call or part-time employee, you may start getting scheduled for less and less hours. The schedule can be really unpredictable making it difficult to have a life outside of work. Expect to work weekends, holidays, and during sales. Managers often push you to open more Macy's cards. You should aim for 2-3 per 40 hours of work. Once I opened three in one day and was told to open three more! Some managers would praise you for opening that many while others may be more annoying and still want more.
