      Stocking and Maintenance. Store Up-keep.

      Pros

      The employee discount given on Macy's merchandise was cool. Thats about the only thing I can think of. Or if you like to be around clothes, or have a "thing" for stocking. I'm sure if you talked to other Macy's employees (well sales associates maybe) they would say thats pretty much the only perk.

      Cons

      The Macy's I worked at was very disorganized. When I came in to work the first couple days, it was never clear what I was supposed to do. The supervisors always had to scramble to assign me my daily task. Or at least where I was supposed to be. This job was seasonal so it was obvious to me they just needed some last minute people to do random things.

      If you want to be in retail, a good place to work.

      Pros

      You are at one of the biggest retail companies in the U.S. , ability to learn the industry at a fast pace. Decent Salary to start. Plently of roles to move laterally but can get stuck vertically unless someone else gets promoted or resigns.

      Cons

      Very resistant to change and they are stuck in a 1980's mindset. Retail industry downturn has affected salary increases and bonuses.

      Pros

      Depending on your immediate supervisor this job can be rewarding. The amount of dedication you put into it is what you get out of it.

      Cons

      The Retail environment is somewhat more difficult than an office in my opinion. You have to deal with the public and that is always unpredictable Macys management has a different dynamic in every store. Most are overworked and underpaid . Therefore retail as a whole tends to be lower paying jobs even if you have a college degree.
