Pros

Good people to work with. Commissioned sales was competitive, but not to the point of people being uniwlling to help others. Management does a good job of keeping associates up to date on what is happening in the store. They also stay on you about promoting certain products and brands.

Cons

I felt as though I was mislead about the true earnings potential during the interview process. Scheduling flexibility was not as easy as I would have hoped. This was my first experience working in retail and it was like a revolving door of people. I was there for less than a year and there was only one person who was still in my department when I left. Everyone else had left.

Pros

Great place to get started in an area you have no experience in. Promotions based on length of service instead of solid experience.

Cons

Horrible wages. No advancement opportunity even if you are qualified. Company promotes based on length of service instead of qualifications. Horrible benefits.

Pros

I work with some great people, as far as my co-workers are concerned. It's a reliable company, due to the fact that it's the Herald Square location of the store and there will always be a demand for your work. The store has weathered the storm, despite the toughening economy. As an employee of the company, you can find some really great bargains. It's also exciting when we have celebrity visits,as Herald Square is a very high profile location. There are some amazing events held at my location through out the year and those are some of the best moments to work for the company.

Cons

The job is extremely demanding and very difficult to maintain a work/life balance. The schedule is all over the place and inconsistent. It's also very difficult to request off or take a vacation for the week you desire. Overall, it is very difficult to move forward into promotion. In my 4 years as a Group Sales Manager, I've only seen one manager move onto the next level, from my area of the store. The Senior level executives are out of touch and do not realize all of the responsibilities and work load of the Group Sales Manager. It's very disappointing, as it could be a wonderful place to work. However, it is not, and I would NEVER recommend anyone to take a position in the management team. The annual merit increase is a disgrace and even worse, this year they took them away from the entire Junior level Executive staff, though the Senior Executives will still receive theirs.
