Pros

Employees work really hard for the little pay.

Cons

These people are dishonest to the core. They lie with such ease it's unbelievable. They don't know what integrity is. They pay minimum wage $15 to sales associate but also wants associates to do the job of a cleaner. Cleaners are paid $15. And if you work past your shift hours you are hit with negative reliatbility because it seems you are supposed to clean while dealing with customers. Home Depot pays highschoolers $17.00 per hour. Executive team is very unprofessional. You make an inquiry privately and they respond to you with their lies on the floor where you are supposed to attend to customers in thr store. They speak of flexible work schedules, thats a lie. You have no control over that flexibility. Your life pretty much belongs to Macy's. You are tossed around like a bouncing ball and have to check you schedule every day because they change it whenever they want with no consideration for work life balance. It shouldn't be that difficult to make a schedule for a week or two and keep it but I guess things are so unstable they can't keep employees. They give you hours and take it away from you just because you speak the truth. They retaliate against you. They give you the option to swap hours when you do, and someone accepts the swap, they take it away from you. They said they provided meals for staff so they won't have to leave the compound during the holiday busy hours and the evening shift got left overs in a mess on a tray. Who does that? They hire you in a commission based position but put you at the door to be a greeter. Imagine that. How are you going to make up your pay from minimum wage by standing at the door greeting customers who enter. Not fair at all. Customers are always upset because coupons can never be combined. How do they play with customers that way. Baited them with coupons to get them to the store and when they are purchasing can't use the coupons. They encourage a hostile work environment. They have no respect. I don't know how grown folks work there. Waste of time. It's BAD. Last option.

Pros

CO-WORKERS CAN BE RATHER NICE

Cons

Among the many negatives of working at MACY'S: [in no special order] 1 - managers with scarce people-skills regularly asking people to come into work, i.e., with the flu and/or severe colds 2 - changing weekly work schedules with NO prior notification, nor telling the affected person about it ! 3 - arbitrarily firing people on-the-spot for one infraction, even with an otherwise good work history 4 - pressuring to work extra hours--even when its explained that there is a life outside MACY's with family responsibilities, and the managers will still insist !! 5 - assigning full-time hours to people with part-time classifications who have school/college and family obligations ! This list can go on & on, but after reading item #1 that should be convincing, as such a practice is unlawful, since one can possibly die from the flu without proper care--and also infect many others in the process. Business first--health last on the priority list !
