Pros

Most of the people, location, discount, good fluff for a resume. Nice to learn about the retail environment. Not really much else.

Cons

Trickle down dysfunction. Senior management decides what will be done and when, with absolutely no knowledge of the technology or the requirements. If you get on someone's bad side, forget any advancement. Passive-aggression is an art form among middle management, regardless of your skills or talent, if they decide you're a problem, they'll try to make you unhappy enough to quit. HR is completely comfortable throwing employees under the bus.

Pros

I can't think of any pros except that it was close to where I live.

Cons

The management team is not professional. One of my bosses even asked why I had to see the doctor when I told her that I had an appointment, but later denied asking me that question. This is clearly against the privacy law. Also, the compensation is not competitive with the current market, and the management has no knowledge of technology. It is very political; you need to flatter your boss to get a promotion. Even the promotion is on average less than a 3% raise of your base salary. There are 35% people working and 65% talking most of the time.

Pros

Great ideas, Great vision from senior business management.

Cons

Much of the management has come up through the company, some starting in the stores. Not very Tech Savvy and thus, everything is possible. Unrealistic requirements and timelines. Work life balance is not that great. Office culture is hyper political...cliquish even. Leadership varies by group...some are micro managers...some are retired in place. There is no consistency in expectations from one boss to another. You may be a rock star in one group but a complete and utter failure in another. There is no backbone at the VP level to push back or hold the business accountable for missed deliverables; hence the project team always takes it on the chin for missed dates. The budget process and management of said budget is a joke...first place I've ever worked where the PM is not privy to the budget. Upper mobility is based on who you know not on your work accomplishments. There are more outsourced workers than there are employees in critical positions...no good if you want sustainability.
