Pros

-Employee discounts if and when you are allowed to use them. You might actually get into trouble for some things. - legitimate customers are usually nice and appreciated your assistance. - the job itself can be good if you have enough teams and employees. -DONT allow customers to bully employees or act upon what they say.look into the situation think before you act.

Cons

-Most managers I’ve encountered about 90% Lack experience and integrity. They don’t understand the role or simply abuse it. - there is no real HR they sit at their desks and lie to you or constantly avoid helping you. They literally do what managers want even if it is against the law. - no open door policy. if you try you will pay for it. - pay is very low - policy isn’t followed- - favoritism and all kinds of discrimination like just about everything on the list. -retaliatory actions from managers and also allowed by coworkers. - hostile work environment if you don’t want to be treated like a SLAVE - if you care about your family help them find a better and safer place to work. - policies are different for each employee depends on how the managers feel about you. You will get your schedule altered unfairly so you can’t use the tools. Same as PTO.Departments are blocked for unrealistic reasons. The company literally is doing the damage to themselves. The system works well without managers putting their own personal preferences so there is No WORK LIFE BALANCE. Or even a stable work environment. - managers will literally only help the employees they are friends with. -High turnover Macy’s has burned through so many people they are outsourcing even in stores where people will do anything for $8 an hour. You are expected to train them on the American monetary system, English, customs, values and ethics. They will in turn lie to managers to get their family in and YOU out.Or get themselves favoritism .you don’t get paid for all the extra responsibility. - NO real training just Bullying called “ coaching”. The videos are funny to watch though, shows the disconnect.

Pros

The customers are usually quite nice - Some of the workers are nice. Herald Square location is convenient.

Cons

The managers here are mostly bad - They're rude and demanding and it's basically impossible to ever find them (Hint: They're in the back playing games on their phones). I've never been criticized so much in my life - One minute you have to clock out exactly on time and then five minutes later you're being yelled at because they need help and you can't go home yet. Half the staff do basically nothing and get away with it and the other half are constantly harassed by managers to do more (While ignoring the employees hiding in the back room and playing with their phones). I have absolutely no idea where they find most of the managers from - They're honestly the most childish people I've ever worked with - I completely understand why the majority of the employees are so rude to every customer. It's honestly just been demoralizing to work here. A perfect example from today is returns - Most associates don't want to accept returns. And it's honestly amazing that for a multi-billion company we don't have any pens, scissors or staples - But we'll also get yelled it if we don't write something down for a customer (Without a pen) or staple a return and it's original receipt together (With not staples)I honestly can't wait to get through the next few days and be done with the constant harassment and bullying.

Overworked and Underpaid

Pros

A few associates who you can become close to through mutual suffering

Cons

The rest of the associates who pretend to be friendly to get you into covering their shifts but are two faced behind your back. Managers who force you to pick up way more hours than you’re required while going on vacation every other week. Blatant disregard for your schedule. Still haven’t received my discount despite applying for it a while back. You are the customer’s personal emotional and verbal punching bag and there is nothing you can do about it. Ha. Underpaid, missing wages. Do other people’s jobs for them. Customers are entitled and even if they’re wrong, they’ll get their way. Don’t stop smiling even when you feel like committing murder.
