Pros

Competitive salary, competitive benefits, 401K

Cons

Career suicide, corporate brands and companies that sell to Macys will not interview candidates employed by Macys as an unspoken non- compete rule, making leaving the company once you are hired at Macys extremely difficult. In the New York home office, there is an internal discrimination against employees with families as well as employees who hold creative roles. Management in all divisions are grossly incompetent and are rewarded and encouraged for fear mongering and creating an extremely negative and hostile environment. There is no comparison for worst place to work in NY corporate retail.

Pros

You can pick up as many shifts as you want and work up to 60 hours a week in any department you'd lime. It's also nice to get paid once a week. And the 20% off employee discount is also a big plus!

Cons

Quite challenging at the beginning. There is a lot to learn and the holiday season is always very busy!

Pros

great team of people, lots of training available, funds seemingly always being raised for good causes, finding great deals, macy money, employee discount

Cons

pay, floor coverage dramatically shrinking so expect a fair share of customer abuse for making them wait. supervisors spend almost as much time on the floor helping to ring customers out or sorting though the mountain of clothes coming out of fitting rooms as associates do. workload is heavy and often increased . raises are tied to a customer service "magic" score --something you are expected to control even though most respondents are upset that there are not enough sales people on the floor to offer customer service anymore. A lot of pressure to open new accounts.
