      Pros

      colleagues, projects are exciting, working in health care is interesting, many people really care about enhancing lives of patients and community

      Cons

      very slow moving, political, open workspace is a bummer

      Pros

      Aside from being gainfully employed and enjoying the company of my coworkers there are very few pros that come to mind.

      Cons

      Southern Maine Medical Center recently had a consulting /efficiency firm visit the hospital to look for ways to save money. The result was a significant amount of lay-offs and benefit reductions amongst other changes. There is very minimal opportunity for pay raises or bonuses. the max pay raise is 2% per year. The majority of these issues are a reflection of the financial state of the hospital due to outside factors but it does not change the fact that the cons far outweigh the pros.

      Pros

      Upper management is great at talking with staff about what is going on with the company and taking there ideas for improvement. They also have great physicians that are wonderful teachers if thats what you want.

      Cons

      They treazt you like a number not an employee. From the outside it looks like this is a very caring company that listens to its employees but thats where it stops. They listen but nothing gets done. They
