Pros

Concepts like "culture" and "mission" aren't just lip service here--it's the real deal; true passion for the goal to improve healthcare, not just for customers but across the nation; wonderful people--no politics or backstabbing; focus on reliance on our own merits and achievements, not putting down the competition (in fact, it's not allowed)

Cons

Salaries could be better. Internal promotions are good and a lot of work has been done on career advancement (i.e. "career levels", etc.), but the company has reached a point where serious thought about career tracks and succession planning need to not only be in place, but openly shared. This was the norm at other organizations I've worked for, and with most of the executive staff being in their late 50s/early 60s, it's frankly a bit scary not knowing what the succession planning in place is (or if there is any).

Pros

Best part of position was longer appointments times you have with patients. Marathon Health pays well and great benefits.

Cons

Account managers are dishonest and often twist the truth to the clinic staff. Performance issues are often not addressed in a timely manner if at all which leads to clinician and staff burnout. Safety and quality surveillance in the health centers are rarely monitored.

We appreciate the advice--thank you. This is disheartening to read and most certainly not the experience we work so hard to create here. We wish you only the best and can only commit to working that much harder to create an exceptional environment.

Pros

Corporate office training was wonderful. CEO very down to earth and approachable. Benefits were adequate. Mission is admirable, however not consistent in the health centers.

Cons

Pay was low. Regional Manager not supportive. Would suggest clinical regional managers in addition to business regional managers for health centers. Business regional managers are unable to clearly understand the clinical aspect and challenges from a provider perspective. Regional manager was unsupportive and did not follow through on requests. Regional manager was dishonest and unsupportive with managerial staff in the health center. Discussed how a situation would be handled with an employee & when it was time to handle it, the manager completely changed their mind and did not discipline the employee, this happened on more than one occasion. Shocking, since HR was also involved. Felt disrespected as a provider and as a manager. Unfortunately, the corporate office mission, did not trickle down to the health center staff. Since the corporate office is in Vermont, and we never had an onsite visit from our regional manager, it was difficult for the corporate office staff to really know their employees. How an employee acts on the phone versus in person and everyday work life can be completely different. We had our regional manager changed twice in less than 6 months. The one manager we only had for a short time, but I felt she really listened, understood and was open to discussion. Unfortunately, after only 2 wks of being our manager, she resigned. I had a resource provider assigned to me who was not available, at no fault of her own, as she had a full workload in her health center and simply did not have the time needed to adequately support a new provider. Disappointed, as I really enjoyed working with my patients, but the constant drama of staff in the health center was exhausting. I felt this might be a job I could retire from, unfortunately that was not the case. Surprisingly, this event that lead to me resigning has steered me to the most wonderful and fulfilling career opportunity and I could not be happier. Things happen for a reason. I do wish Marathon all the best. I think if perhaps we had a different clinical manager, it could have been a different outcome.
