Pros

Great insurance benefits. Dedicated to non-management employees.

Cons

Calcified management. Hostile to divergent view points. Operations managers woefully under compensated and over worked. I was diplomatically and bluntly told to shut up during my 16 month tenure. Internal mobility for corporate/support positions is based solely on "who you know." Recruitment managers for internal positions are frankly rude. Why bother. Overall, after 4 months I stopped trying to be part of the team. Quickly became clear there was a corporate "in crowd" that equated to no potential for advancement for people that weren't "in."

Pros

Location drives everything... in a well supported market - it’s amazing ... take a role in an area that doesn’t have more than one Marriott managed property and you are in trouble.... fun to create and drive Marriott culture ... can be creative

Cons

You are in danger of EVERYTHING... being sold to a competitor, closures, bad owners or a bad General Manager ....Covid has destroyed the culture that was created

Director of Finance, you will not get work from home. Don't bother asking. Maybe in the future they will set a structure of performance to allow it for assistants.
