Not all it's cracked up to be

Pros

Hotel discounts Flexible work schedule

Cons

They talk a big game about taking care of the associates, but that went down the drain when Arne Sorenson took over. They only care about the stockholders, and gaslight the associates into thinking they care. Arne made a big deal about giving up his salary during the pandemic, and a week later filed for a 200% cash bonus and 7.8% raise. Not what I consider ethical

Poor Leadership and Toxic Workplace Culture

Pros

Variety of impressive career experiences and opportunities. Access to brand related resources and benefits. Globally recognized brand to enhance resume.

Cons

Leadership teams are made up of people who need much more management training and goals to hold them accountable for the success and growth of their teams. They should consider leadership term limits to allow a variety of diversity of perspectives, styles and expertise. Employee/Workforce Surveys need to be truly anonymous, and cover 360 degree feedback, to ensure that the company culture, its leaders and practices are reviewed and adjusted when necessary. There’s a desperate need for more required training for both leadership and the workforce about unconscious bias, sexual harassment, inclusive workforce practices, and conflict resolution skills. Unfortunately, racism and other forms of discrimination are common at HQ and there is a need for better ways to address conflict to support victims when issues occur. The performance review process and path to promotion needs to be spelled out more clearly and be supported by a more equitable set of practices. The salaries and leave are not competitive. Hiring friends and family who do not meet basic requirements is a real problem.
