Pros
Small town, most people are friendly, beautiful campus. The program that I worked in was actually great, for the most part, a smattering of crazy people though. Like, legit crazy, not just throwing that word around lightly. Like, needed serious help for their mental health kind of crazy. Other than that minority of crazy people most people in my particular department were really passionate and committed to serving the students.
Cons
Small town, many people (including people on campus) are racists, xenophobic, and strongly committed to causes such as "Friends of Coal". Trump supporter central. Heavy athletic/football culture (over the top for me). No one that I knew while I worked there who had come from some place else had any desire to stay there long term. For most of us it was clearly just a stopping point in an attempt to get enough experience to land a job somewhere else. If you are from are bigger city and looking to move there just go into it with the expectation that there are not a lot of exciting things to do. Plan to take up a hobby to keep you occupied. The city of Huntington is quaint in parts, but there are also some not so nice areas. People call these areas "the ghetto". If you have ever been or lived somewhere else you won't be bothered much, it's certainly nothing like a "ghetto" in a bigger city. If you have a spouse don't expect them to be able to find work. Unless they are in the medical field, very few jobs of any worth exist and very few companies hire people that they aren't their cousin or their cousin's cousin.
