Pros

It's a fairly relaxed environment for a retailer. The benefits are decent and they just opened access to an inexpensive long term disability plan, which I will need considering how many back injuries I got as a stockroom coordinator. Also, Marshalls is essentially recession proof. The more stores that go bankrupt, the bigger we get.

Cons

Retail hours are a bummer (weekends etc). Management plays favorites and the rules don't apply to everyone equally. Salaries aren't equal, some new hires are making more than experienced employees. The discount is only 10%. Marshalls is a multi-billion dollar company and they are always too low on payroll to properly staff the store. So low on payroll they ask the few people they schedule if they'd like to go home and use their sick/vacation time because they are "over payroll".

Pros

even though we are over worked and under paid we do manage to have some fun while working.

Cons

Low pay, under staffed, Marshalls wants High End Dept store quality customer service on a Kmart budget

Pros

flexible scheduling, 9.25 an hour for sales associate, morning/afternoon/evening shifts, GREAT for university students. no benefits whatsoever (but sometimes you get incentive $$, depends if you're a good employee.) sometimes free food on weekends. depends if the store opens a lot of cards.

Cons

MICRO MANAGEMENT to the max. some, not all managers, will be breathing down your neck for you to open a tjx card. all employees had to be trained on the register. retail itself sucks, so it will always feel like you don't get enough money to put up with angry or obnoxious customers. favorites will get better and more shifts, new hires say goodbye to weekends!
