Incredible technology and purposeful mission overshadowed by toxic leadership
Pros
Masimo’s products and technology are genuinely impressive and have a meaningful mission in improving patient outcomes and advancing healthcare innovation. It’s rewarding to know the work being done here makes a real difference in people’s lives. The facility itself is beautiful and well maintained, with great amenities like an on-site wellness clinic, café, and volleyball court. There are many talented, hardworking employees who believe in the mission and want to make a positive impact. The benefits and work environment are strong positives.
Cons
The overall culture still feels unhealthy. Leadership behavior can be unpredictable and communication from the top often feels inconsistent or fear-based. HR is not empowered to address these issues and those who try to advocate for employees often end up marginalized or leave. The new HR leader seems more focused on improving Gallup engagement scores than creating real accountability or cultural change. Programs like “Ask Katie” are positioned as ways to listen to employees, but they come across as surface-level efforts rather than addressing the real underlying issues. Despite the influx of new C-level leaders, the same deep-rooted culture and leadership problems persist.
