Pros

Excellent pay, opportunity to work with people and with Mathworks, good time balance.

Cons

Ambiguous work expectations at times. Not particularly a con but necessary to be able to work without direct guidance.

Pros

+ Great work life balance + Great company with great core values and culture + Respectful and collaborative environment + Personal office space for all + As you spend more time in the company, your tenure is personally valued and appreciated, so do your benefits grow + Great company to stay for a long period of time and retire from + Fair review process with self evaluation and peer evaluations along with your manager's evaluation. Can't get better. Your ratings translate fairly to salary increments. + Perks: Company summer outing to the best mountain resorts in NH for 2 nights, cookies, free treats, Wednesday breakfasts, quarterly bonus, unlimited sick time, 8 hours social work time, 3 weeks vacation, personal office room, great 401k and health benefits, 40 hours trainings a year, awesome gym with many group classes etc. I joined MathWorks straight from college upon graduation with Masters and it was my best decision. This company groomed and prepared me for work life in the initial 2 years of my job as an ASE in EDG. This program allows you to try out different roles and responsibilities like technical assistance to customers, taking up QE project, Software development projects, technical marketing projects, EDG team leadership, EDG process improvement, interviewing new candidates, knowledge sharing presentations, mentoring new hires etc. These are the things I got to do over my 2 years span in EDG which has helped me immensely in my current role as a Software Developer. You feel valued and appreciated in this company for your contributions viz. the company founder and owner, Jack personally calls to congratulate you on your 5th year anniversary at the company! :)

Cons

- Very process oriented company; it might fluster one who is not used to of the detailed analysis, documentation and reviews before implementation. Would be much appreciated by research oriented individuals. - Only 3 days work from home and more on request. Works for me as the company has worked hard to provide us the best environments to work in with personal office spaces with great food and other services. - Salary might be a tad bit low than some other contemporaries.

If you're a technical person, particularly a developer, it's great.

Pros

1. Successful, stable, privately held company 2. Excellent benefits 3. Bonus structure 4. Work/life balance (if you meet certain unspoken expectations)

Cons

1. While work-life balance is promoted as one of the benefits, that's really only true dependent upon your manager, whether you're in development and if you are held in high regard by your manager and his/her superiors. 2. The company's core values imply an easy going, flatter organizational structure. Nothing could be further from the truth. The company is very hierarchical. Be aware of who the higher-ups are, and be smart about your interactions with fellow employees. 3. The review process is onerous, and ultimately unsatisfying. Self-reviews are part of the process, as is a lengthy review completed by your direct manager. Do not expect to be recognized for going above and beyond or for picking up difficult work that others won't or can't do. If you pick up such work and it impacts another area of your job or your "metrics", it will negatively impact your review. 4. Do not expect your review to reflect the type of raise or bonus you may receive. It's very likely you will receive a glowing review, and a small raise or bonus due to a variety of reasons: your stakeholder rating drives your bonus and raise amounts, not your review; there's is a complex compensation structure with defined limits particular to your staffing level, of which you are
