If you're a technical person, particularly a developer, it's great.

Pros

1. Successful, stable, privately held company 2. Excellent benefits 3. Bonus structure 4. Work/life balance (if you meet certain unspoken expectations)

Cons

1. While work-life balance is promoted as one of the benefits, that's really only true dependent upon your manager, whether you're in development and if you are held in high regard by your manager and his/her superiors. 2. The company's core values imply an easy going, flatter organizational structure. Nothing could be further from the truth. The company is very hierarchical. Be aware of who the higher-ups are, and be smart about your interactions with fellow employees. 3. The review process is onerous, and ultimately unsatisfying. Self-reviews are part of the process, as is a lengthy review completed by your direct manager. Do not expect to be recognized for going above and beyond or for picking up difficult work that others won't or can't do. If you pick up such work and it impacts another area of your job or your "metrics", it will negatively impact your review. 4. Do not expect your review to reflect the type of raise or bonus you may receive. It's very likely you will receive a glowing review, and a small raise or bonus due to a variety of reasons: your stakeholder rating drives your bonus and raise amounts, not your review; there's is a complex compensation structure with defined limits particular to your staffing level, of which you are

Unethical Hiring Practices

Pros

I wish I could have found out what the pros were.

Cons

I was "hired" at Math Works a few months ago. I interviewed twice with several people. The corporate recruiter praised my candidacy, called all of my references, ran a background check, gave me my pay rate, a verbal offer, and an idea of when I would start my first day. I found it odd that I hadn't heard from the recruiter in a week, so I emailed her. Nothing. I called her, left messages, and she ignored my calls. Two weeks went by... nothing. Three weeks... nothing. You get the point. I was given a verbal offer and then I never heard from the recruiter again. Very surprising for such a large and successful company, and extremely disappointing. I would never apply for a job there again and have told friends and family about my experience so that they can avoid going through the trouble as well.

Pros

* Good work/life balance * Competitive compensation * Great Stake Holder Program * Very smart workforce * Great core values

Cons

I am quite happy here and do not see any big cons. Perhaps a tad too process oriented and things take time to get done.
