Pros

Very friendly and supportive co-workers. Awesome perks. Company really cares about employees. Lot of opportunities for leadership roles. Easy switch to different teams. They are getting bigger every year, so its exciting to be a part of the growth.

Cons

Review process is too elaborate. Stakeholder plan is a major part of salary without which salary looks just average.

Pros

Most coworkers are knowledgeable, cooperative and welcoming. The company invests in a lot of training in both technical and non technical areas. The managers are understanding and helpful. There is good work life balance, and very good benefits and compensation.

Cons

The company is highly process oriented , and hence changes are slow to take effect. Working from home is generally frowned upon.

Well run company ...

Pros

The Mathworks is a very well organized software company. I worked there for over four years. The founder is still very active and cares dearly about the company. The company hires a lot of smart graduates and has a very methodical approach of ramping up these newly hired employees to get them ready to join other parts of the company. All in all, a very well run company. The company pays special attention to training their employees not only on technical matters but also on non-technical matters such as negotiation skills and presentation skills.

Cons

There is some level of complacency because of the lack of a strong competition. Required improvements or features are not put into a product as fast as it could be. Back when I was working at The MathWorks, there was a lot of conflict within a portion of development team, but there did not seem to be a swift action in addressing the conflicts.
