Pros

Working with the kids was great Unlimited PTO They pay for your gym membership

Cons

Disclaimer: this is only applicable to the IRVINE / SOUTH BAY centers: Management consists of two equally tragic men, the first of which being a walking Ted Talk who lures you in with promises of only caring about the kids (they don’t) and paying you salaries “in the six figures”(they won’t). The other being an unprofessional oversharer who strings little anecdotes and analogies together incoherently in hopes that he’ll wind up saying something intelligent instead of actually listening to what his employees have to say. When they’re not setting blatantly unrealistic goals or blaming their desperately under-trained employees for not meeting said goals, you might find them complaining about their wives and children, or bringing up their childhood trauma unprompted during a staff meeting! You’ll definitely find them analyzing their employees’ character based on their own assumptions of them and then treating them accordingly. Beyond that, the hours suck, the work atmosphere is tense, secretive and competitive, and EVERYTHING is about revenue.

Horrible Place to Work

Pros

You are indoors and can sit most of the time. Sometimes you have a positive interaction with a child which feels fulfilling but they are so rare due to systemic issues at my center.

Cons

First, I worked my first training shift 35 days ago and have not been paid despite contacting leadership repeatedly. Additionally, my center director does not care about the center running well or operations at all. She is also passive aggressive and talks to instructors as if they are children. She will telemarket and I suppose do other marketing work but could care less if a kid is going wild in the center and you have 3 other kids you are trying to work with. They care about signing people up and then it is on you and whichever other instructor they schedule to run the whole show. Most of the kids are stubborn or downright angry about being there, and can be quite rude. Management provides no help or advice on dealing with the 80% of children who refuse to do any work or disrupt / insult the other children. It is clear that to leadership all that matters is getting people signed up and helping children have a positive experience and learning math skills is not a priority in the least.
