Where to begin? The pay level caps out pretty fast at $13/hr. There were some instructors who could do Calculus, Trigonometry, Statistics, Geometry, etc. and they were paid the same as the less talented instructors who didn't have those capabilities. At my center your pay increased if you completed certain "Mathnasium University" curriculum. Basically doing online classes on how to teach the Mathnasium way. Your pay was not tied to your actual performance as a tutor or employee whatsoever. I came into Mathnasium already knowing advanced math like Calc, Trig, Pre-Calc, Geometry, and Stats. I was constantly in demand as we were sorely lacking instructors with these capabilities, yet I was never rewarded with better pay or benefits despite being one of two people who worked there with the skills to do advanced math. Why not incentivize employees to learn advanced math? Maybe provide paid training and pay raises to those who want to learn advanced math. I regret working so hard when other employees made the same as I did but had less responsibilities.
