Pros

Watching kids play with toys is fun.

Cons

Working under a Mattel brand, everything is governed by Mattel execs. Corporate greed drives business decisions. They are a company of followers and will do whatever the big ECommerce companies do when it comes to layoffs and market movements. Internally, they promote toxic managers for the sake of “diversity, equity and inclusion.” The ERGs are for show. They are constantly cutting employee benefits and are forcing employees back to the office 4+ days per week. Executives gaslight middle managers and people near the bottom are constantly forced to do more with less. Each employee has the workload of 3+. Morale is at an all time low, but hey, we made a Barbie movie!

Pros

Mattel employs great people who are passionate about the company.

Cons

After a blockbuster movie (grossing 1.3+ Billion dollars) with a strong message on women's rights, it's honestly a bit of a bummer to see how Mattel's been treating their folks. They've been pretty stingy with the paychecks lately – no more bonuses this year. And there has been two rounds of layoffs in 2023, even though the workload's gone through the roof. Work-life balance? It's practically vanished.

Cons

Culture is broken & and morale is horrible due to declining sales and too much bureaucracy with C suite and upper management Middle management is not empowered to make decisions Lacking innovation due to low morale and bad culture
