Pros

- 40% discount - Worked with my college class schedule - Lots of hours during high seasons ( like holidays)

Cons

- The management really pushes you to sell credit and there is a four item per customer expectation ( meaning you, as the associate, are shooting to sell four items to every single customer in the store) The pressure is sometimes outrageous and many times I went home crying from work because of it. - The customers get annoyed very easily with Maurices approach to credit. The sales approach was often seen as pushy. Even though I was trying not to be pushy, my manager continually wanted me to be. - Asking for a day off of work because of the small amount of employees was terrible. The managers would always request of their days ahead of time and then when you wanted a day off for a specific reason they gave you a hard time - The dress code at my Maurices was somewhat ridiculous. You had to have seven articles of clothing on ( for example, a ring, earrings, necklace, top, shoes, pants, and a cardigan) You were also expected to wear the color story ( the colors of the clothing) that were in. There was a lot of pressure to buy clothing and because of this I spent a lot of money, probably more than I saved.

Pros

Great discount, pretty clothes, plus sizes, the marketing uses real people not fake airbrushed models.

Cons

Human resource department is a sham. The manager can say anything she wants and be,backed uo as long as she calls h r every day and tells them what you are supposedly doing or saying. The company supposedly supports open communication between team members but when I followed protocol and approached my mgr with my issues it was pushed under the rug. 2 months later I was informed that suddenly none of the staff wanted to work with me...even thougj no one was made to come speak to me. Point is, there is no real support for anyone except the actual store manager. She is allowed to do whatever she wants including breaking company policy. She can come and go as she pleases and even come to work with alcohol on her breath and it is ok....but if you don't get your credit card goal you are screwed.

Pros

Fun if you enjoy helping other people shop, and are into fashion. You spend a lot of time around clothes and interacting with people. There is opportunity for advancement if you are really into retail sales.

Cons

Push the maurices credit card too much, and your performance depends on it. Lots of pressure to turn people into profitable customers and sell them as much stuff as possible, so if you are about helping people as opposed to looking at them as dollar signs, this is not the place for you. If you don't meet your daily sales goals, you are put on a probation and are not as scheduled as much.
