Pros

Clothing discount is 40% but you get the 'extra' percentage off whatever promotion is on when you purchase. Great customers

Cons

Sales focused, not customer focused. Constant changes to marketing mean you can be asked to work after the store is closed to remerchandise store. (You are expected to 'make up' your sales that you lost when flipping the store). They also believe and stress in the employee manual a work/ life balance...It does not happen. Regular phone calls on days off to come in, if you don't come in your not viewed as a team player and your hours are decreased since your not taking one for the team.

Pros

I was able to gain lots of sales and customer service experience. I also liked that the company emphasized personal connections with customers - my store sent hand drawn birthday cards to customers who had the Maurices credit card. The employee discount was also the best I had heard of anywhere. I liked the constant feedback on personal sales goals, it motivated me and me more aware of what I was doing.

Cons

I wasn't all that comfortable with how aggressively they pushed selling the store credit card. I understand why they want customers to get the credit card and I was comfortable marketing it, but only up to a certain point. I found that it very often irritated customers who, after hearing about it 3 or 4 times, would no longer feel like I was truly trying to help them. I tend to agree with them because I feel the same way when I'm shopping. Also, at the end of the night, the two people who closed would drive over to the bank (in their separate cars) to make the daily deposit in the drop box. I always wondered about it because we were both required to go but were never paid for it. On top of that, I always thought it seemed like a huge liability if anything happened or there was a car accident.

Pros

40% discount is good, although I know of some retailers with higher discounts.

Cons

Horrible management team! -Manager is completely oblivious to issues going on in the store. -1st Assistant and Assistant manager steal sales. -goals are too high! -they say that we have a store goal...yet we have individual goals? Extremely high individual goals. -Barely any hours! Usually anywhere from 5-13! You might pick up more if someone is sick. -No switching shifts. -Managers lie to look better. -Managers only care about their own sales. -Associates never receive their first 15's!
