Pros

- Product is solving real problems every day in a very complex industry with real-world consequences - Leadership is deeply invested in the success of the company and its employees - Amazing benefits, flexible hours and open vacation policy, beautiful office, and a convenient location

Cons

Any company in a space that's still maturing will go through some points of uncertainty while getting the strategy and business model ironed out. For most employees here, this is exciting and all part of working at a VC-backed startup.

Occasionally, the executive feels out of reach. There are more layers of management now. Happens with a growing company!

Pros

- Smart people - Passionate leaders - Great cause and huge potential to disrupt the healthcare industry - Great location - Great benefits

Cons

- Culture is very "cliquey". - Low compensation with the promise of high bonuses that aren't guaranteed - Basically zero growth opportunities - Lack of middle management, which means little to no direct feedback - Enormous amounts of money spent on parties, with almost none spent on training

First of all, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. It's important for us to hear and address feedback - both positive and constructive. It really saddens me that you don't feel like you have an opportunity for growth at Maxwell Health, as that goes against everything we stand for. There's a lot we do as a company with respect to training, including coaching, mentoring, bringing in outside expertise, formal and informal courses (both for our own teams and the community), documentation of best practices, expert talks, etc. These are all forms of professional development that make our teams and our company better. We take professional development seriously, and our investment in our team is especially strong for a company at our growth stage. This is something we will continue to invest in -- we’re planning initiatives for 2016 now, and I’d love to hear any ideas you might have. On top of that, we have a world class team of managers who are here to help you, and to guide and develop teams that feel empowered and can be their best. We also encourage everyone at Maxwell to reach out to people across teams if you feel they can provide guidance -- including our senior leadership and CEO. Additionally, we are very committed to providing growth opportunities and a variety of experiences for our team. While it's not possible in every circumstance and at the time we would all prefer, we have many examples within our company of people who have transitioned to a new team, been promoted or taken on new and bigger responsibilities and challenges. I would go so far as saying that one of our strengths as a company is identifying people with great potential and giving them the opportunity to go after it. Separately, a bonus -- partially or in its entirety -- is never a guarantee. Bonuses at Maxwell are based on personal and corporate performance, and we will evaluate and award bonuses accordingly. As always, I'd love to hear your feedback on how we can improve. If you have ideas, let’s have an open conversation. Please call me or stop by my desk! Our CEO is also very open to discussing constructive feedback. I’m dedicated to helping foster a positive culture that is collaborative and inclusive, and deeply appreciate the importance of constantly getting better. -Kelsey Sullivan
