Pros

McCarthy is 100% employee owned and allows its employees to have a share in the company's stock. This makes everyone work as a team because their colleagues' success/failure ultimately effects the company's stock price.

Cons

Long work hours. Not enough balance between work and family.

Pros

Best Benefits Insurance 401K match 19% company stock Work only in Texas (no traveling out of state) Hire good talent, great co-workers Good bonus during good times

Cons

The field struggles with work life balance. They move staff around too much. Understaff jobs. Have way too many initiatives (green, BIM, quality, safety, etc) and do not get the overhead or man the jobs to support the initiates. The directors of these initiatives seem to push work onto the field staff and complain that the initiatives are not being taken seriously. Lots of training, but it is all mandatory and their is little time between the staff size and initiatives to do it during regular hours. So they ask you to do it online after hours and on Saturdays (mandatory Saturday safety meetings 4 per year, 7am -12pm and sometimes till 3pm). Do not seem to be forward thinking (field staff do not have smart phones in this division). Slow to promote, but hires in at levels where there are people ready to promote to. No or minimal raises in the last 5 years.
