Pros

Good work life balance, good process most people are nice to work with. Well respected company they look great on your resume.

Cons

Pay is below industry standard but hours are typically 9-5. Culture is a bit conservative and formal but most people are easy to work with.

Reckless and disconnected management

Pros

Excellent on the ground workforce that succeeds despite the wrangling and good ol' boys club of senior management.

Cons

The most disconnected management staff ever, it is high school all over again, cliques with middle management and sr. management always looking up at the next rung rather than what happens at the lower level. Never have I seen such a chasm between the reality of the individual contributor and that of the folks in the corner offices. Strategies never work to completion, just when things start to click there is a lay off/outsourcing intended to save money but by and large ends up costing the company money. One interesting tidbit for a health care company - if you're a new employee you don't get health benefits for 2 months. I never have had that occur in my life.

Pros

Great mobility within the company, great benefits, management is understanding w/personal issues such as illness, etc. Management does show respect to teams.

Cons

Lack of training for very, complex applications. The lack of training has forced many people from my team to leave. There are 2 groups the group that has the proper knowledge and then the second group who is newer did not receive simliar training to the older group. The group that has the knowlege seems to resent the new group who is trying to learn. That dynamic is seen throughout the team.
