Pros

Pay is fairly decent for the area

Cons

Safety for you and patients is a major concern. Patients and family members often need to be searched for paraphernalia. Ratios are high for acuity and most rooms have double beds.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. While we are happy to hear that you were pleased with your compensation, it’s disheartening to hear that you weren't satisfied with all aspects of your employment. We take your concerns about safety seriously and will share them with the most appropriate leaders on our team. If you’re willing to share additional details about your experience, please fill out our anonymous associate feedback form: MedStarHealth.org/AssociateFeedback. We appreciate your feedback and are always interested learning how we can provide a better associate experience. – MedStar Health Community Manager

Pros

Decent pay for night shift with solid differentials. Work life balance is great, pick your own schedule.

Cons

Feel like a secretary more than a nurse some days. Managers can be overbearing and punitive.

Pros

Good training period, good health insurance, 4 hours of admin time per week

Cons

What was communicated during hiring was not what actually happened. Was told 4, 10 hour days was a possibility which they later took back. Different hospital coverage than what was talked about during hiring. They make all providers get pan-credentialed in the most likely scenario that you have to cover at another hospital or state (yes, they require DC, MD, and VA) at a last-minute notice. Management does not listen to complaints or improve on practices (late patients, late check ins, messages not relayed to providers in a timely manner).
