Pros

Large company with many different opportunities to learn.

Cons

Takes a long time to get things done because of the excessive chain of command. Pays about 20% less than most healthcare organizations in it's league.

Pros

Educated staff and MDs. They have the intention of being a High Reliability Organization (HRO), the leader in the region for healthcare, take regular associate surveys to judge the culture and perception, but they rarely, rarely take action. They are experts at signing themselves up to 'Do the Right Thing' but are very, very slow on implementing or the 'Doing' of what they say. They have a lot of potential but very poor execution. When the hospital is experiencing steady growth every year the employees have experienced a whooping 2.5% increase. That's ok at best and should be increased when we are experiencing record growth in patient visits and charges and collections.

Cons

Over confident Staff and MDs. Leadership does not believe in the growth for internal candidates. Only external candidates are seen as the next best thing. Leadership does invest in their work force. They have training programs but they are more or less for the organization to be able to check the box "Staff Engagement/Training Conducted". Culture is lacking, besides the facade of culture that HR/Marketing attempts to create. Unless you have the unlimited skill of inflating your direct boss's ego, you do not really have a chance to grow in your career.
