Pros

The pay was good and my colleagues were amazing. The culture in our department was oppressive and terrible. Over a dozen complaints were received by HR about the head of our dept for potential racism, sexism, verbal abuse, and for physically threatening one of my colleagues. HR did nothing, the leadership did nothing and people in our dept literally worked themselves into the hospital. A company we hired for services also complained about how they felt the head of the dept was racist to them. Our one colleague couldnt take time off and worked until they had a stroke. Time off was not allowed by the head of the dept which was another complaint to HR. Although the head of the dept is finally gone, along with his boss and the CAO who was the worst of all the leaders, HR still did nothing to protect the well-being of me and my colleagues. If they offered to pay me 500% of what they were paying me when I left, I would still turn it down.

Cons

Corporate leadership is terrible and toxic. Our dept was run by a narcissistic sociopath who had been fired multiple times prior to being hired as our VP. Just in their first year and a half as our VP, there were over 15 valid complaints about bullying, sexism, racism, discrimination and physical threats (I witnessed this occur). Somehow this individual was allowed to stay on as VP. They were allowed to leave with a golden parachute and landed an amazing job. This VP has also been subject to lawsuits in the past for discrimination. Corporate leadership really needs to either be introspective and grow or move on so its not so toxic. I will never get over putting in a formal complaint after seeing the VP put their fists up at a colleague and HR not doing anythjng.
