Pros

The doctors are largely pleasant to work with and try to provide support where they can. Plenty of opportunities and openings to work in different medical disciplines due to lack of staff.

Cons

Job expectations are often unclear and boundaries between roles are muddy. Constant turnover and burnout among employees. Endless requests to come in on days off, making work-life balance a massive issue. Patient care is frequently inadequate due to staffing and training problems. Half of the hospital is under construction, and most of the medical equipment is poorly-maintained.

We appreciate you sharing your feedback. MedVet values our employee’s financial, mental, and physical well-being. Our employee experience is very important and we are continuously investing in our employees to enable our teams to deliver the MedVet experience to our Patients, Clients, and Referral Partners. In addition to ensuring new team members are brought in at a competitive compensation rate, we have made several investments in additional base compensation and bonuses for our existing clinical services team members over the past three years. A lot of work and effort has been put into analyzing job descriptions, role assignment, and fair pay within our geographic area. MedVet strives to provide a robust benefit package with Medical, Vision, Dental, STD, LTD, life insurance, 401K, uniform allowance, CE Funds and scholarships, and PTO. We are constantly re-evaluating these items and making adjustments where needed. Within these guidelines every employee has the opportunity to discuss career goals with managers and obtain their help working through a plan that involves both work by the employee as well as resources and support from MedVet. Establishing a work-life balance for all of our employees is a priority and we encourage all team members to utilize their PTO and time away to reset and recharge. We also have some really great benefits to help navigate stress and support your mental and physical health. With initiatives like complimentary subscriptions to mental wellbeing apps, our Employee Assistance Program, and the creation of a well-being room, we hope to continue to support and promote healthy ways of dealing with stress so everyone can be the best version of themselves when they are doing what they love.

Pros

I absolutely love my coworkers! The fact that we're all on the same page of making clients' and our own experiences as uplifting as possible is a very welcome change from my previous jobs. The different cases we deal with and the opportunities for problem-solving make sure that the job stays interesting. Throughout my onboarding and orientation process, the company often emphasized their three values of teamwork, leadership, and compassion. I'm usually skeptical of corporate values, but in practice, I really do think that the folks in management with whom I've interacted and the front desk team embody those values well.

Cons

The work can be very emotionally draining, given that the majority of clients who interact with us are going through stressful situations with their pets, and they sometimes turn that stress outwards on us. I don't know if my base pay would necessarily make that labor worthwhile for someone without a good support system out of work. Diversity is also pretty low, especially up front--there are no men or nonbinary folks that I know of on the CSR team, and my coworkers are all white. I personally haven't felt any tension or discrimination directed towards me from my coworkers, but I am fairly white-passing, so my experience may not necessarily illustrate MedVet's attitude towards nonwhite employees.
