Pros

If you make the right friends, there is tons of room to move up. Loads of PTO (5 weeks)

Cons

After working at this company for 3 1/2 years with consistent high performance reviews I was fired after returning from vacation with NO information as to what went wrong. Along with this 3 other employees with similar long term history, and top performers were fired with no real reason. I also find it suspicious that the people fired were some of the highest earners. The company promises that you will know if things aren't going well. This is NOT the case. This company has consistently fired large numbers of people with little notice, I guess it was just my turn. Apart from this, they are absolutely terrible with product releases. You can point out serious security bugs, before launch that are not fixed. This company is also terrible for promoting people who are friends rather than people who are experienced. Overall, this company promises a lot, but does not deliver. Keep clear! Actual quote from upper management. This came up when a new hire had his schedule changed by 2 hours and completely different days. This employee could not keep this schedule due to family obligations: "They are employees and we are management. They have to do whatever we say if they want to work here."

Beware the fake positive reviews poor leadership is killing this company

Pros

ping pong and foosball, stocked kitchen, some mid level managers are helpful and supportive.

Cons

media temple is failing due to poor leadership and a botched acquisition by godaddy. The executives are disconnected from the company product and employees. There is extreme cost cutting going on to make up for fleeing customers and decreasing sales. Sales quotas have been increased and you will be fired for not meeting them as managers change the rules in the middle of the game. The president rarely comes to work and other executives roll in and 2 in the afternoon. They allow remote work for some employees but not others and play favorites by hiring friends and relatives. We moved offices from a great location near public transportation to a boring office building sandwiched between highways just to be closer to the presidents house.

First, let me thank you for your feedback. We’ve seen a ton of transformation and the pendulum swing on the extremes as we evolved from being a privately held small/medium company to being acquired, and going public as a part of GoDaddy. Those changes haven’t impacted all employees the same way, and we acknowledge that. I wanted to address your comments about our new office location: The process of moving the entire office was on and off the table for years and, before choosing our current location, our leadership team looked into pretty much every LA neighborhood. Bottom line: There are always trade-offs with a company move and we tried and minimized their impact on employees as much as possible. When it comes to hiring, we have open positions across almost all departments and while we recognize the appeal of flexible work arrangements for potential future employees, we also acknowledge that we have to do better in this area.

Pros

- Great people at the non-management level jobs. - Office gives off a start-up feel with free food, games, drinks, etc - Great perks (for full-time employees) - insurance, unlimited vacation, good pay

Cons

- Backwards "innovation" on all new products. Media Temple has raised prices on all new offerings while at the same time removing features. - Incessant nepotism in the management and higher levels. No opportunities to move up because management and executives only seem to hire friends and colleagues from outside the company.
