Pros
Decent salary, work from home stipend, ability to work remotely on occasion, discounts for local fitness centers, office space is new and has nice views, occasional free food, a lot of opportunity to move within the company. People are generally nice.
Cons
It is a corporation/weight-loss company/MLM so there's not much to enjoy about the content itself of the work. The environment is very cult-like which can be entertaining but is often uncomfortable. Not a COVID-conscious environment. I can count the number of people who wear masks in one hand. Have been exposed to COVID at least once by a coworker who came in to work maskless despite their partner testing positive. It is known that upper management are antimaskers and have requested to the creative team to refrain from using any images of OPTAVIA events showing masked individuals. Made to work very long hours for about half the year, pushed to work 12 hour days and told not to disclose to HR. Very little respect for personal/work boundaries. Not a lot of opportunity to be creative/problem solve. A lot of organizational issues, there's frequent fluctuation between having little work to do and rushing to meet deadlines for events that happen yearly/regularly, this is due to other teams failing to provide content in time which can be frustrating. We have a lot of communication issues and often end up doubling on work with other designers. While there are multiple designers on the team, there is very little collaboration between designers, never get to see the work of coworkers nor talk about the creative process behind decisions. Definitely a quantity over quality type of environment. Also not a great environment for minorities, have experienced and witnessed racism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, etc. We receive trainings from HR but management will witness coworkers making light of the importance of these trainings and will say nothing about it.
