Pros

A good place to work if you need work experience under your belt, want to work on multitasking skills, or to build your resume. The majority of fellow employees are good people and a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Was reassured upon hiring that I would be able to move up and around within the company fairly quickly due to the size. Quickly learned that this is a reality in the Merchandising side of the business but not in Product Development as it stands today (only 2 levels of positions). There is an extremely high turnover in employees in this department, over 10 of 30 people have left within the past 3 years due to issues with management and lack of an organized infrastructure. Bonuses and raises are not given to employees below manager level, even for going above and beyond the scope of the job. Be prepared to handle the bulk of the workload in this position. Is marketed as a family company because it privately owned but management's actions towards employees show it is truly a corporation through and through. Work life balance is not great.

Pros

I loved some of the people I worked with.

Cons

The pay. I spent almost 5 years with the company. In the end, I left making less than 12 dollars a hour. I know current employees who are making a little over 12 and have been there 10+ years. The store I was at the moral was so bad corporate got involved. Not a whole lot done, but it still has a high turn over rate. The dept managers. Some were great. Some didn't believe they had to work or help out their departments and would rather be in the office socializing than working. They think they were better than everyone else. Some of the lines leaders are lazy, and some are unreasonably nasty. Union was a joke.

Pros

- Can gain a TON of experience in retail, really good foundation - Training for a Business Analyst is the best I ever had - Career opportunities within Merchandising for sure - Your decisions and work effort can greatly change a business

Cons

- Large restructure had basically killed a lot of morale - Merchandising department is basically running a 100 things at once and then explaining why you aren't meeting plan numbers - Had a VP who was completely oblivious to the business, new one is more hands on - Lots of people want to move to marketing which won't happen since they cut that function down, which happens every 2-3 years
