Pros

Can be a nice place to work.

Cons

Can be a horrible place to work. Management does not police management. By this I mean Departments and shifts have become compartmentalized. The new catch phrase for upper management is "Not my problem" when it should be "How can I help." Shifts continually set the next shift up for failure and blame the previous shift for the action. The Buck stops nowhere it just keeps running around in circles. Company is no longer career oriented for lower level employees. New contract caps out at $13.25 hr. Your better putting in time someplace else if you want a career. They offer insurance to part time employees. For approx $135 or more depending on choices a week. That would the majority of your pay check if not all, part-time means they guarantee you 16 hrs. Many stores are extremely understaffed. Management and HR are not to be trusted. Not that they are encouraged to lie, lets say they are encouraged to be evasive. If you have problems with your Meijer benefits god help you because no one at your Meijer store will be able to. Its all handled by another company, your management team will probably know less than you as their benefits are not the same as yours. Store has caps set on how many full-time employees it can have. Doesn't matter that there are 8 people in your department that should have 20 and your working 45 hr weeks for the past 8 months. Your still part time because their business model is set for 5 full time employees and 15 part time employees. Should they open a full time slot, you then have to compete with all other part time employees store wide, due to the seniority system they have in place. HR rep for grand rapids area is "Green" and that is being VERY polite. HR rep is not there for you, they there for Meijer Management, always remember that. False information, hearsay or outright lies on your permanent record, good luck getting them fixed or removed. Even with a stack of witness statements. I was told I could go up higher if I wanted, but there would be "consequences".

Management is lazy and rude. There is too much to do and not enough staff. No work life balance. Pay is unbelievably low.
