Pros

notoriety, variety of learning opportunities

Cons

Micromanagement, ridiculous extraneous quality control, complete lack of regard for employee satisfaction are commonplace. Patient care is lacking because frustration runs rampant in busy areas. After the big management sweep earlier this year, existing managers were consolidated into running several locations at a time, reducing their visibility, and their presumed fear of being next on the chopping block. This led to a more heightened sense of uncertainty amongst the clinical staff as well. soon, however, management received their yearly bonuses. The clinical staff, however, has yet to receive a merit increase despite Harvey, and despite a recent market survey which apparently placed the company amongst the lowest paying in the region. In fact- results of evaluations were determined in JULY, but instead of expectations to deliver raises in the beginning of Oct, they have been postponed until after DEC 26th. What a wonderful way to save money at the expense of employees!!!!! So much for extra money during the holidays!

Pros

The company is constantly expanding so you can most likely find a position anywhere in the Houston area. The TMC location is very high acuity so it is an excellent place to learn. They are very education focused and are willing to reimburse for training and certifications. Lots of opportunity to transfer to other departments

Cons

The health insurance is limited to Memorial Hermann facilities for the most part, and it gets more expensive every year. They are often making budget cuts which usually results in more work for the nurses. At least in the NICU, they make you feel expendable and can easily be replaced. Constant turn over rate Very heavy assignments

Pros

Higher salary than other hospitals in the area. A lot of employee appreciation at the location I work at, though it's it like this everywhere in the system.

Cons

Horrible benefits compared to other hospitals in the area, especially considering they are the largest hospital system in Texas. Our insurance costs a lot & we still have a lot of out of picket costs, plus we can only go to Hermann facilities or doctors. Many employees don't want to be restricted like that & no other hospital system in the area has insurance that requires that.
