Pros

Great company to work for!!

Cons

I needed more home time and where I live once I would go home it would be days before I would get a load back out or have to dead head 300+ miles to get a load

Pros

There really are no pros when a company is dishonest and nothing but smoke and mirrors. One pro was that lovely staff member who was honest enough to take me to the side and tell me the inside or truth as to what was really going on and why I and others were having to beg for loads.

Cons

I am writing this review so that other unsuspecting O/Os don't get fooled. I apologize to my family because Mercer nearly cost me everything. Mercer is filled with cheap loads, dishonest coordinators, lots of deadheading and sitting for days at a time and favoritism. For those of you who own your truck and are not leasing to own a truck through Quality at Mercer, you are last to receive loads and if you get a load here and there, they pay practically nothing, certainly not enough to cover fuel and expenses or support your family. Quality trucks get all the favortism and are first in line. Last week, 37 O/Os resigned, and their used trailers are in the lot sitting. Knowing the truth, I too have now resigned. I constantly found myself pleading for loads, only to be told that there were none and I would have to sit AGAIN. Whatever you do, boycott Mercer and don't be a victim. There are plenty of other companies, and right now, you, the O/O are in demand due to a shortage in drivers. Know your worth!

While we agree that Mercer may not be a good fit for everyone we have a track record of making Owner Operators successful, year after year, for nearly 40 years now; Long before there was ever a truck leasing option. It is unfortunate that not everyone succeeds, but it is a fact that Mercer Owner operators consistently do. Deepest regrets for your bad experience, best of luck in the future.

Pros

Great people, great perks, very laid back office environment. Employees get free insurance for themselves and can add their families (payroll deduct for family plan). Company sponsored bowling league, cookouts, company picnics, thunder over Louisville parking, Louisville Bats tickets! Did I mention Hawaiian Shirt Friday during the summer? The point is that there are lots of companies that provide a decent job - Mercer really does try to make working for a living as fun as work can be. They also have really good parking for a company located in the heart of Downtown Louisville.

Cons

not real big spenders on the salary side of things - they are fair to the people here but you won't get showered with BIG money. I do have to say they do a good job of creating a great environment to work to make up some ground for it.
