Pros

School is wonderful, growing fast and has done wonders for middle Georgia

Cons

The city and community are beginning to shake some of the "old-town" feel and really embrace change, which has been an issue in the past, but is slowly changing.

Pros

At the present time, I don't think there is any good reason to join the medical school at Mercer University. However the pathology is tremendous and the exposure to variety of pathology with all grades of severity is tremendous.

Cons

The moral is extremely low. Faculty members are leaving almost on a monthly basis. There is lack of confidence in whatever the new employee is told when he or she starts and what happened afterward. Even the written contracts are not fully honored. There is no effort to retain good faculty members. Upper management does not show good grasp of the realities of the effort involving combining clinical practice with teaching.

Pros

Strong strategic plan and attention to the plan and in many departments, faculty seem to get along well, and faculty are dedicated to students for the most part.

Cons

Most difficulties relate to the detachment of administration to the real and everyday issues faced by faculty. Administrative leadership seems to have few resources to develop junior faculty in a meaningful way. Mercer has a lot of appeal, but there are critical gaps in growing the capabilities of the faculty.
